Welcome to Our Home- Open House

If you’ve ever been to a school open house, you know the madness and chaos that can ensue. For new students especially, this is often the first time they are seeing the inside of their school, meeting their teachers, or connecting with peers.

For parents, the open house is often a time to figure out where the heck drop off is, what forms are needed, and who to call for absences, and any other number of administerial tasks.

Overall, open houses can be scary and exciting, especially for neurodivergent students.

For some families, the open house feels more overwhelming than welcoming. There may be too many people. It can be loud, or just generally uncomfortable. For these families, virtual open houses can be a wonderful asset.

At Young Scholars Academy, our virtual open house is more than just a peek inside the walls, it’s an invitation into our family and into our home.

We provide more than just one-off enrichment opportunities (although these still exist). Here, you will find a virtual village.

Your child can connect with other young learners like them through strength-based learning opportunities. If you haven’t guessed by now, we’re ALL ABOUT strength-based learning.

At the open house, you don’t just read about potential enrichment courses. No, you take a seat at our campfire, connect with your child’s future teachers, hear from other families who are on a similar journey to your family, and best of all, you get to pop around from virtual room to virtual room as you connect with your child’s future mentors and ask them all your burning questions!

Best of all—our mentors understand the complexities of differently-wired kids, as many of them are twice-exceptional themselves and parent neurodivergent children.

Your student will get a chance to develop a real connection with our mentors PRIOR to the first class starting, which often reduces anxiety and apprehension.

Each of our YSA courses includes real problem-solving opportunities through which your child will have the best time, make leaps in bounds in their intellectual, social, and emotional growth, and best of all, make best friends!

The open house allows learners and their parents to get an understanding of what will happen in each course. Not only will you get the opportunity to ask questions and learn more, but your student will also get the opportunity to meet others who may be in their classes to develop connections and community.

We have actually had several instances where students make friends at the open house and sign up for classes together! How cool is that?!?!

For many of our newer families, the concept of a virtual school can feel very unfamiliar. The open house provides families with the chance to ask all their questions in order to get a better understanding of the process.

Additionally, past students and their families will be there to help answer any questions they can, as well as talk about their experiences at YSA. This gives incoming families a real-life look into what a school without walls can provide. We provide a community, a connection, and a home for 2e learners and their families.

If you’ve never seen an open house before, you can check one: NOTE- THIS IS A RECORDING OF OUR LAST OPEN HOUSE. The upcoming open house that you attend is a live event
