Classes Start NEXT Week! Here’s What You Can Expect 🎆
I love the beginning of new semester!!! It’s always so full of promise. It’s exciting, and sometimes a little nerve-wracking! As a parent, my first school week is best categorized by running about 5 minutes late to EVERYTHING and at least one drive-through meal because I forgot how long it takes to get somewhere. Many of our 2e kiddos need more support starting something new. The unknown can feel so anxiety-provoking!
Do you know what helps me most with difficult transitions? Knowing exactly what to expect!
In hopes that this will help your family, too, we want to make sure you know exactly what happens from the moment that you register for class to the beginning of the course.
This way, you know that if you haven’t had this happen, then you can reach out so we can make sure you are getting the support you need!
The biggest thing we strive for at YSA is a sense of community: You’re a part of our Virtual Village Now! We are all here together! So if you need help at any time, reach out to us!
Here’s what you can expect:
Communication Timeline
Right after enrollment – You will receive 2 things: A welcome email from Mr. Sam and a receipt from our enrollment system, Active. The Welcome Email will include any supplies you may need, the zoom link for the class, as well as the dates and times of the class.
5 days prior to the semester kicking off – Information Email. Mr. Sam and the team will reach out with an email that will include an invitation to join our VIP Villager Members Only page! This page is password-protected and only enrolled families will be able to access all the amazing support on the inside! It will also have any important dates for the semester including VIP events.
Days leading up to class – Additional information emails. These emails will include any additional information you may need to know. For example, some classes include a Google classroom, so an invitation to the classroom may be in these emails.
Every morning that a class meets – Class reminder emails. These emails will include anything important for that day’s class.
Once a semester – Student progress emails. Teachers will send a personalized update about your learner twice each semester (more if necessary) to let you know how awesome your kiddo is and to share their amazing progress in the class.
Throughout the semester– YSA Village Voice Newsletter. YSA mentors will share class updates and highlights in our school newspaper called the YSA Village Voice Newsletter.
How to access information in the Virtual Village
The moment you join our classes, you are part of our family and that comes with all kinds of perks! This means that you get access to all of the perks of our community. These perks include community events, demo classes, and free resources like expert talks.
Members of our Virtual Village also have priority enrollment for next semester! You get to sign up for the classes your child dreams of before they open to the public!
The best part is that you get access to the VIP Villager Members Only page! This page is password-protected and only enrolled families will be able to access all the amazing support on the inside! It will also have any important dates for the semester including VIP events.
Families that have signed up for two classes or more also get access to our free homeroom social club. This is a place for our learners to connect with other 2e kids like them.
Student Showcase
This year, we are going to bring our families more into the passions of their learners through our Student Showcase. Students will have a chance to explain what they're doing in their classes and what they're learning. As our school community grows, we want you to be a part of it. Parents will also receive issues of our virtual school newspaper, which will include updates about events and information about classes.
Your Community
As you can see, our program is more than just one-off classes. Once you sign up, you’re not just getting classes, you’re joining a community.
You’re huddling up with your tribe around a campfire in the safety of a Virtual Village that was constructed by families just like yours, for families just like yours!
