The Women Who Do It All!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Anyone who's spent but a moment in any twice-exceptional/neurodivergent circles knows that it's the moms who run the show. Moms wear so many hats it makes my head hurt! Moms, you are the champions, curators, and warriors for your children and the rest of the community.

You are the courageous few who:

  • go up against the system and fight for accommodations

  • see strengths in your child when the rest of the world seems to see shortcomings

  • entrench yourselves in learning about neurodiversity and taking creative approaches with your kiddo

  • invest in programs that offer for your child what you know is right

  • give so much by being a working professional and supporting your child full time OR putting your career on pause to support your child full time

Moms, never underestimate your power. As far as I can tell, there is nothing more powerful in this world than you!

Margaret Mead once said:

While I certainly agree, I would replace the word “citizens” with “moms”. Just by doing that this statement is magnified by the power of 10. Moms are just that much more powerful that ordinary citizens. Moms, you have something so much bigger that you’re fighting for. You’re fighting for your child!

In fact, it was a group of strong mothers who instilled the confidence in me to start Young Scholars Academy! When moms find what they know works for their kids, they make it happen! A few moms realized that an hour of strength-based, passion-focused learning could help exponentially with the growth of their kiddos, and it became a reality! Thank you for believing in Young Scholars Academy, moms! You know who you are!

Moms, you will never stop impressing me! On this Mother's Day, I'm sending lots of love and gratitude to all the moms of the world!

Put your feet up and be tended to. Let your family spend the day offering you the support that you offer them every day! Heck, maybe turn this into a weekly thing 😉

Finally, I'd like to send a GIANT shout-out to this lovely lady, my own mom!

My mom always believed in me and ALWAYS found creative ways to help me when I was struggling in school. She worked full time, sought out tutors and phonics coaches, and fought for my accommodations from elementary school all the way through college! I wouldn't be where I am without you!

I love you, mom!

Moms, remember, your love and your care is the most important thing in this world. The power of your words knows no bounds. As Whoopi Goldberg once said,

“I knew I wasn’t stupid, and I knew I wasn’t dumb. My mother told me that.”

That really speaks to the power of a mom's words! Moms, don’t hold back! Keep showing up! Keep being you!

Moms, today, we celebrate you! We love you! We thank you! Without you, none of this would be possible.

Thank you, moms! You run the world! We are eternally grateful!
