This might sound familiar

You're in the right place if...

Your child can explain quantum physics but has a complete meltdown over the wrong socks.

They're the most intellectually advanced kid in their class and the most socially exhausted one too.

You've watched them dim themselves down to fit in — and it quietly breaks your heart.

Every program you've tried has been designed for a different kid.

You know exactly how capable your child is. You're just looking for a place that knows it too.

That's not a list of problems. That's a description of a kid who hasn't found their environment yet. The discovery call exists because we've heard this story a thousand times — and we know how it ends when the right environment shows up.

A real family. A real conversation. The same one we'd love to have with you.

What happens when you book

What a discovery call actually is.

Not a sales pitch. Not a tour of our features. A real conversation — about your child specifically.

Minutes 1–5
We learn about your child

Not their diagnosis. Not their test scores. Who they are. What lights them up. What they can talk about for three hours without stopping. What kind of day makes them feel like themselves.

Minutes 5–12
We listen to what hasn't worked

What programs have you tried? Why didn't they stick? Where does your child shut down — and where do they come alive? We use this to understand whether YSA is structurally different enough to matter.

Minutes 12–20
We tell you honestly if we're the right fit

If we are — we'll tell you exactly which courses make sense for your child and why. If we aren't, we'll tell you that too, and point you somewhere that might be better. No pressure. No pitch. Just honesty.

What makes us different

Why YSA feels different from the first day.

Not a repackaged traditional school. Not a passive video platform. Something structurally different.

Built from the inside out

Our instructors are neurodivergent themselves — or parents of 2e kids. They don't just understand your child intellectually. They recognize them. That changes everything about how a class feels. The pacing, the patience, the vocabulary — it's all calibrated to a different kind of mind.

Learning that matches who your child actually is

No grades. No diagnosis required. 150+ live courses in subjects kids actually want to learn — Minecraft, cryptography, D&D, robotics, AI, songwriting, debate. Taught by mentors who genuinely love these subjects and genuinely love these kids.

The first real friends

Every family enrolled in two or more courses gets free access to the Homeroom Social Club. For a lot of our kids, it's the first time they've ever been in a room — virtual or otherwise — where they didn't have to explain themselves. Parents tell us this is what they didn't know they were signing up for.

Honest fit check

Who this call is and isn't for.

We'd rather be honest here than have you spend 20 minutes finding out we're not the right fit.

✅ Book this call if your child...

  • Is gifted, twice-exceptional (2e), or neurodivergent — or you suspect they might be
  • Feels bored, unchallenged, or "different" in their current setting
  • Has intense, niche interests that don't fit the normal curriculum
  • Has struggled to find real friends who share their depth and intensity
  • Thrives in small groups with direct interaction — when the topic is right
  • Ages 5–25 (yes, we genuinely serve that full range)

⚠️ This may not be the right call if...

  • You're looking for a full-time school replacement or remedial tutoring
  • Your child prefers passive, self-paced video lessons without live interaction
  • You need a structured curriculum with standardized testing
  • Your child doesn't have reliable internet access for live sessions

Still not sure?

That's exactly what the call is for. We're good at figuring this out quickly — and we'll tell you honestly either way.

What families say after their call

The conversation changes things.

"At the end of open house, Zoe looked at me and said, 'I have to sign up for those classes because these people get me.' It's been amazing to connect with other neurodivergent lifelong learners — and both kids have had incredible experiences."

Melissa and Zoe
Melissa & Zoe
Mother and daughter, YSA families

"It's been a night-and-day difference — from difficult struggles elsewhere to hilarious, joyful learning here. When we sign up for YSA, excitement and big ideas are met kindly, not with the negative reinforcement we'd gotten before."

Lucas & Amanda
Mother and son, YSA families

"My twice-exceptional son really struggles with online learning — but that doesn't happen at Young Scholars Academy. Mr. Sam was the most influential, encouraging teacher my son has ever had. I cannot say enough wonderful things about YSA."

Questions we hear a lot

Answers before you book.

Courses are $39–$75 per session. There are no long-term contracts. You enroll in what makes sense for your child right now — one course, a few courses, or a full semester. The discovery call itself is completely free, with no obligation to enroll.

Ages 5 to 25. We genuinely serve that full range — and our instructors know how to teach across it. Whether you have a highly verbal 6-year-old or a 22-year-old who's still finding their path, we've worked with kids and young adults like them before.

YSA was specifically designed for neurodivergent learners. Most of our students carry one or more of those diagnoses — and many thrive here precisely because they finally don't have to mask.

No diagnosis is required to enroll. If your child thinks differently, that's enough. We can figure out the rest on the call.

Most online programs are designed for neurotypical learners and retrofitted for everyone else. YSA was built the other way around — designed from day one for kids who think differently. That's a structural difference, not a marketing one.

Our class sizes are 6–8, maximum. Our mentors were often these kids themselves. And the topics are things kids actually want to spend 50 minutes talking about — not things they're required to learn.

That's what the discovery call is for. We'd rather spend 20 minutes figuring out whether we're the right fit than have you enroll in something that isn't.

And if you do enroll and it's not working — you talk to a real person, not a support ticket. We'll find a better fit or give you your money back. No drama.

No. This is genuinely not that kind of call. Our mentors are educators, not salespeople. The call exists because we've found that a 20-minute conversation tells us more about whether we can help your child than any form or questionnaire ever could.

If we think YSA is right for your child, we'll explain exactly why and what we'd recommend. If we don't, we'll tell you that. Either way, you leave with clarity — not a follow-up sequence.

Yes — we accept ESA and Charter School funds where eligible. Many families cover their child's full YSA tuition this way at zero out-of-pocket cost. We'll walk you through the process on the call, or you can email us at outreach@youngscholarsacademy.org.
