Does your kiddo see a poker hand and immediately start calculating odds? Do they lose themselves in systems, optimization, and pushing numbers as high as they can go? In Balatro, they will find their people.
More Than a Card Game
Balatro is the indie Game of the Year smash hit that looks like a simple card game until you realize it is a deep, layered exercise in probability, multipliers, resource management, and strategic thinking. In this course, students go beyond just playing the game and learn to understand why it works, and why their brains love it.
What Students Will Do
Students master the math behind scoring systems, probability, and exponential multipliers. They apply game theory concepts like risk vs. reward, diminishing returns, and optimization, analyze deck-building strategy through a critical thinking lens, and connect gameplay mechanics to real concepts in statistics and decision science. Along the way, they find a community of like-minded peers who geek out over systems the same way they do.
Pushing the Limits Together
This is not just about high scores. It is about understanding how elegant systems work and developing the kind of strategic, analytical mind that wins at a lot more than cards. Together our group will challenge ourselves, push our luck, and calculate exactly how to score 2.9e13 points to beat Ante 15. Every session tests our ability to estimate probability, calculate exponential growth, and ruthlessly cull our 52-card deck to maximum efficiency.
Join the Group
Whether your student is already an expert or just beginning, they can join our group to unlock the next level of Balatro play. Who knows, we may even push ourselves to the limit and attempt to reach the mythical naneinf and the hard end of the game at Ante 39.
