Spring 2027 · A fresh start for the new year
Where bright, quirky kids find their people.
Small, live online classes for gifted or twice-exceptional (2e) kids ages 5 to 18, from anywhere. Mentors who get them. Friends they can't wait to see. Spring runs January 4 to May 28.
- WASC-accredited
- 1,200+ families
- 93% re-enroll
- 47+ states, 17 countries, 6 continents
Step 1 of 4
Sound familiar?
Tap every one that sounds like your kid. Each one shows you how YSA answers it.
They go deep in some subjects... and fall apart in others. Tap to see how YSA helps
The fix · Content that builds confidence
Classes built around what they love, at the level they're actually at, grouped by age and interest instead of grade. Their strengths lead. When something's hard, the mentor slows down instead of moving on, so they finish class feeling capable, not behind.
“The classes are engaging and challenging enough for our kiddo but with the right kind of support from the mentors for her to actually engage.”
They get along great with adults... but feel lonely and struggle to make friends their own age. Tap to see how YSA helps
The fix · Community
6 to 8 kids per class, grouped by age and interest, so the kid next to them is into the same wonderfully specific things. Take 3 or more classes and the Friendship Social Club comes with them: a weekly hangout built for one thing, making friends.
“She made a friend, whom she knew by name... and they did something together in Animal Crossing. It made her giggle with happiness.”
They have so much to offer... but teachers only focus on their shortcomings. Tap to see how YSA helps
The fix · Caring Mentors
Our mentors are grown-up versions of your kid, and many are parents of kids just like yours. They let kids join in their own way. They don't manage your child's intensity. They feed it.
“The teachers are like our kids.”
You know how amazing they are... and you're tired of having to explain them to everyone else. Tap to see how YSA helps
The fix · Communication
Weekly Progress Reports show you what your kid did in class and how they're doing. 79% of our families say it's the one thing they'd never give up. And the Parent Circle connects you with parents who already get it, so you're not explaining anymore.
“I feel like I'm getting an even better picture of my son's engagement and participation... so I can address or encourage him.”
And underneath all of it, the one that keeps you up at night...
They're starting to believe there's something wrong with them.
There isn't. They just haven't found their people yet. Here's what happens when they do:

Step 2 of 4
Which describes your family?
Pick one and see what spring looks like for families like yours.

We homeschool
YSA becomes the daytime community, the mentors, and the records you've been building on your own.

My kid is in school and needs more
Enrichment with no grades and no homework. The one part of the week they actually look forward to.
Step 3 of 4
So much more than just courses.
Every enrollment, even one class, comes with Starting with Strengths. Your kid gets a community. You get a team.
Happy kid
- A live class with 6 to 8 kids like them, taught by a mentor who gets them.
- Friendship Social Club (with 3+ classes): a weekly hangout just for making friends.
- The Virtual Campus, open Monday to Friday through May 28: a video-game-style space where kids walk up to each other and a video chat opens.
- Masterclass Library: 5 recorded masterclasses.
- Task Manager Toolkit: a simple system to plan, start and finish what they care about.

Happy parent
- Weekly Progress Reports: what your kid did and how they're doing.
- Expert Circle: 6 live talks from leaders in gifted or 2e parenting.
- Parent Circle and Coffee & Connect: a private group and live meetups.
- Line-Skipper: register for Summer 2027 a day early.
- $199 credit for every family you refer.
Total value, included with your enrollment: $5,302 ($4,693 with 1 to 2 classes)
The Virtual Campus
Between classes, they hang out here.
A video-game-style space where kids walk up to each other and a video chat opens. Open Monday to Friday through May 28.
Hear it from the families
Real kids, real parents, unscripted.
“Thanks to YSA my kid found the right place for him, became more self-confident and loves the classes.”
“She was pretty disappointed when Friday rolled around so that was a great sign...”
“He kept saying, 'Why am I so happy after Mr. Sam's class?' This morning he said, 'I think it's because he's so positive. And he cares. And the kids there want to learn.'”
“A school for kids 'wired like this'... that has helped us move out of shut down and that he likes going to class.”
“My teen just sent me this text... 'I have a problem. My homework is too fun. I'm putting in so much effort that I won't have time to finish both assignments by tomorrow morning.'”
“I had no idea a white board and marker... could change EVERYTHING!!!!”
Why this isn't just another online class.
We asked our parents what they were looking for. Here's what they told us, and where they found it.
| What parents told us they wanted | A typical online class | YSA |
|---|---|---|
| "Kids who are just like him" | Whoever signed up | 6 to 8 gifted or 2e kids, grouped by age and interest |
| "A pace fast enough for him not to get bored" | Taught to the middle | Placed by interest and level, not grade |
| "Teachers that get him" | A subject expert | Mentors who were kids like yours |
| "Allowed to participate however they can" | Camera on, called on | Kids join in their own way |
| "A friend she knew by name" | Log off, done | Friendship Social Club and a campus to hang out in |
| "A better picture of my son's engagement" | Silence until the end | Weekly Progress Reports |
| "I think we found our people" | You're on your own | Expert talks and a parent community |

Questions parents ask about Young Scholars Academy
What is Young Scholars Academy?
Young Scholars Academy (YSA) is a WASC-accredited online school for gifted or twice-exceptional (2e) kids ages 5 to 18. It offers small, live online classes of 6 to 8 students, taught by mentors who understand bright, quirky kids. YSA has served 1,200+ families in 47+ states, 17 countries and 6 continents since August 2020.
When does the Spring 2027 semester start?
Spring 2027 runs 21 weeks, from Monday, January 4 to Friday, May 28, 2027. Enrollment closes Thursday, December 10. Families who enroll by Thursday, November 12 at 11:59 PM PT get the New Year Head Start bonuses.
Will my child actually make friends in an online class?
Yes, and it's the change parents notice most. Classes are small (6 to 8 students) and grouped by age and interest, so kids meet peers who love the same things. Families with 3 or more classes also get the Friendship Social Club, a weekly hangout built for making friends.
Is YSA a good fit for kids with anxiety or a PDA profile?
Yes. Many YSA families have kids with anxiety or a PDA profile, and YSA mentors let kids join in their own way without pressure.
Can my child take classes for enrichment only?
Yes, absolutely. Courses can be taken for enrichment or for credit. Enrichment courses have no grades and no outside-of-class work. For-credit courses include assignments and letter grades.
How much do YSA classes cost?
Individual YSA classes start at $27.55 a week. The New Year All-Access Pass costs $2,797 (Bronze, 4 classes a week), $3,597 (Silver, 6 classes) or $5,797 (Gold, 10 classes) for the full spring. Paying up front or enrolling a sibling saves 5% on classes (one discount at a time), and affiliate codes save 10%.
Can we use ESA funds at YSA?
Yes. YSA is an approved vendor with 10+ state ESA programs. The Gold All-Access Pass includes ESA Concierge to help families through the process.
What time zone are YSA class times in?
Class times on the YSA website are shown in Pacific Time. All classes meet live online, so families join from anywhere.
What if YSA isn't the right fit?
The Try It From The Inside Satisfaction Guarantee covers it. Families who attend and aren't 100% in love with a class can switch to a better-fit class or take a credit, and payment-plan families can also stop future payments after a 30-day processing period. All-Access Passes have separate terms.
